How to make everyday Earth Day!

Did you know that April 22nd is Earth Day? A whole day dedicated to celebrate our beautiful planet. Let's take a moment to re-evealuate what steps we can take to protect her, everyday.

Here are 10 top tips to help protect our beautiful Earth, not just today but everyday. 1. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

I know we have all heard this one hundred times, but here come the three R's- Reduce, reuse, and recycle. Buy less, and use more of what you already have to reduce on what you throw away. Some brilliant resources to help with this are community sharing organisations such as FreeCycle and Olio, ( I personally love Olio to help reduce food waste with their handy app that means you can share unwanted ( in-date food) with people in your community, even supermarkets and sandwich shops are involved with the Olio helpers collecting unwanted food to pass on, want not waste not as the saying goes!)

For harder to recycle items like coffee pods and crisp packets and much more, check out Terracycle for stations to drop off your harder to recycle goods, if there isn't a station close to you, why not register and set up your own collection point.

2. Plant a Tree

As a self confessed tree hugger myself, this is one one my favourite ways to honour the beautiful planet we call home.

Trees provide food and oxygen. They help save energy, clean the air, and help combat climate change. I am a proud partner with One Tree Planted, planting trees across the globe, for every piece of jewellery sold I donate a percentage of the profits to this awesome non- profit organisation. Gifting a tree to your loved ones is a fabulous and unique idea for a gift. You can gift your own trees and choose from lots of different reforestation projects at www.onetreeplanted.org.

3. Volunteer.

Volunteer to help clean up your local area, from beaches and forests to public spaces. There are also organisations such as Friends of The Earth that may also have groups in your local area.

4. Lightbulb Moment!

I'm sure by now most of us have energy efficient lights in our homes, and it goes without saying when you not using it turn out the light! but if like me and you live in a house with teens that some times forget this, I love our lights from Phillips HUE . Not only are they super energy efficient, but they can also be controlled via a nifty app on the phone, and even can change colour... how cool is that

5. Save water

Be aware of your water usage, don't leave taps running, Swap showers for baths ( or share with a friend :-), with their permission of course!)

6. Sustainable sourced fish

If you do eat fish, shop aware, and buy sustainably sourced fish. To find out more about responsibly caught fish visit https://www.fishwatch.gov/

7. Knowledge is power.

Be it watching documentaries about Climate change and the environment on Netflix, to joining groups, reading blogs or downloading e-books. educate yourself on the effects of climate change and what you can do to help. when you further your own education, you can help others to understand the importance of the precious world that we live in, and the value of our natural resources.

8 Be a Savvy Shopper .

No you don't have to hit the shops dressed as Captin Jack Sparrow, unless you really want to of course!!

Shop wisely, buy earth friendly, Shop locally, Buy less plastic and bring a reusable shopping bags. There are also fantastic Zero waste small businesses that have lots of brilliant plastic free options.

9. Chemical reaction

Buy earth friendly non-toxic cleaning and beauty products, or make your own! Please don't send chemicals into our waterways.

If you work with toxic substances, please dispose of these responsibly.

10. Be More Dutch!

Bike more. Drive less.

My husband is Dutch, and I love the Dutch mentality. Leave the car and get on your bike. great for thighs of steal, good for your body and the environment.

I hope my tips have given you some inspiration. If you would like to know more about me and how I practice Earth Friendly processes in my own little business please do visit my website to learn more.

Wishing you a very beautiful Earth Day, as there is no planet B, let's do all we can to take care of this gorgeous world in which we live upon. Much love
